Course Summary: Often termed as the most influential scholar of all time, Karl Marx continues to influence 135 years after his death. This introductory course on Marxism offers an overview of most prominent ideas of Marx. Special emphasis is given to his thoughts on capitalism, socialism, communism and his critique on religion. The last section is dedicated to contemporary Marxism, i.e. how Marxism lives in different forms today as cultural Marxism or neo-Marxism. A supplementary section provides relevant sources for a deepen understanding of both classical Marxism and new age Marxism.
