Course Summary: Short movies and documentaries can be excellent tools not only for storytelling, but also for raising awareness and sharing experiences. This course introduces the concept of ‘social filmmaking’ and guides you through the process of completing a low-budget film or a documentary.
Learning modules consist of ideas and tips on how videos can be used for awareness and advocacy. Case studies feature participatory video-making processes in rural parts of the developing world.
The final module offers a collection of useful online tools and information on film festivals for independent filmmakers, movie-editing software, and funding opportunities for aspiring social filmmaker.
Learning Materials: Reading, online lectures, videos. All materials will be in English
Assessment: Successful completion of module quizzes and very short questions
